The ESV Study Bible notes mention,” God’s people have known many occasions on which this psalm provides just the right hymn”
It could be a thanks for God delivering them from the Egyptian enemies long ago. Or more recent to the psalm’s creation, a thank you for God delivering David and his army from the Philistines.

H.B. Charles Jr. preached on this Psalm and titled the message Facing Life with a Divine Ally, and the skeleton notes outlined that this Psalm helps us to remember, rejoice, and rest in the difference the Lord makes in our lives.
I of course love the reiteration. But I admire his thought process to bring the lessons forward for us today.
It is Good for us to reflect what our life would be like without the Lord. Not too long mind you. Just long enough to let that reflection fuel our rejoicing and future resting
It very well may be that this Psalm is the root meditation for Paul’s famous line when he wrote Romans 8:31: “What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who is against us?”(LSB). Again, not “if”. He IS for us.
The ESV Study Bible notes say: “Biblical authors certainly affirm the importance of human diligence; but such diligence makes no lasting difference unless it is a tool in the Lord’s hand. David was a wily and sturdy warrior, and he had valiant fighters in his service, as was proper; at the same time, it was the Lord who worked each great victory through them.
