Welcome to For 1 Glory!
Hi! I’m Eric Mattie. I’m happy you found your way here.
I created For 1 Glory as a place for Christians who find themselves at a crossroads in their relationship with Jesus. Not Christians who are walking away from their faith, but for Christians who are walking with no fire.
You still show up
You still believe
You still obey.
But along the way, you have become weary or numb. You have wandered through the Christian life, having lost your first passionate love for the Lord. Or even, at times, unsure you ever had such a love
I know this not only as a pastor but also firsthand as a fellow brother in Christ.
I know what it’s like to run out of courage to keep my eyes on Jesus.
I know what it’s like to still show up in my quiet times, ministries, and relationships, yet be at the end of my rope and feel nothing.
I know what it’s like to ask the Lord to act and see nothing on the outside and be discouraged
I know what it’s like to confuse my ambitions for God’s ambitions, and mistakenly blame Him.
I know what it’s like to desire that long-ago passion for God’s kingdom and work in my life, only to see it get swallowed up in the ordinary responsibilities of adulting.
The Christian life trajectory can feel like 3 steps forward and then 2 steps back.
Yet God
Yet God himself calls us to press on.
I have created For 1 Glory as a ministry to encourage Christians to do just that… finish well by living for something greater than themselves!
I send two types of emails.
The first is a highlighted article written to encourage or equip you in your Christian faith and to inspire your spiritual connection to God. In other words, they address the very items I mentioned above!
The second is a small digest I call life & godliness. While I write it, I also record it so you can listen to it on the run. I keep it short. I share thoughts, posts, or other links that encourage your godliness that I run across online and in life. The second thing I share is something in my life that I would pass along- one friend to another- saying, “Hey, check this out.”
If you sign up to subscribe today, I have a gift called “The Hidden Reason: Why the Bible Feels Empty.” It is a digital resource. I created to encourage and challenge your “Bible-Reading blues.”
It is free as a Thank You for signing up.
Click on the picture below to sign up and receive your free resource. But again, remember it’s not a physical book. It is a digital download.
As time goes on (and Lord willing), more resources will be developed for further encouragement.
What If I’m Not a Christian?
Glad you asked.
If you sincerely care to know the answer, I’d sincerely say to you, “Hang around this website. Read thoughtfully and deeply.”
Why? Because most people don’t address their spiritual well-being. My aim with this website is to encourage those who do. Perhaps now is the time for you to look into such matters.
What does For 1 Glory Believe and Value?
Any personal Statement of Doctrinal Beliefs that will be added to this will be informed first and foremost by the Holy Christian Scriptures.
Until such a statement is developed and shared, For 1 Glory affirms the basic and essential orthodox Christian beliefs stated in the Nicene Creed.
We believe in one God,
The Father Almighty,
maker of heaven and earth,
of all things visible and invisible.
And in one Lord Jesus Christ,
the only Son of God,
begotten from the Father before all ages,
God from God,
Light from Light,
true God from true God,
begotten, not made;
of the same essence as the Father.
Through him all things were made.
For us and for our salvation
he came down from heaven;
he became incarnate by the Holy Spirit and the virgin Mary,
and was made human.
He was crucified for us under Pontius Pilate;
he suffered and was buried.
The third day he rose again, according to the Scriptures.
He ascended to heaven
and is seated at the right hand of the Father.
He will come again with glory
to judge the living and the dead.
His kingdom will never end.
And we believe in the Holy Spirit,
the Lord, the giver of life.
He proceeds from the Father and the Son,
and with the Father and the Son is worshiped and glorified.
He spoke through the prophets.
We believe in one holy catholic and apostolic church.
We affirm one baptism for the forgiveness of sins.
We look forward to the resurrection of the dead,
and to life in the world to come. Amen.
