In this semi-regular post, I will share what I enjoy in life that you might also appreciate (or at least get to know me and my quirks better). In addition, I will share things to stir godliness in your life.
A little about myself: I recognized that there are essential teachings of the Christian faith that I needed to strengthen in my life regarding my faith in Christ. One of these teachings is the Doctrine of Christ. As I continue to deepen my relationship with Jesus, I find myself wanting to learn more about Him, eliminate any doubts I have, and love Him better than I did the day before.-edm
“To become the promised Son of Man the Son of God came from heaven through incarnation conquered Satan, sin, and death through crucifixion and resurrection, gives victory to his people through vicarious suffering and justification and will return to bring eternal judgment upon all his enemies and to reign forever with his people in righteousness.
-Stephen J. Wellum, God the Son Incarnate
What we believe about Jesus Christ informs our peace, hope, purpose, joy, and worship. When I see quotes like this, there is a witness of the Spirit’s joy in my soul that causes me to stop and worship. The older I’ve gotten, the better I’ve paused to enjoy the moment.
Quotes like this remind me of a praise song that spread through the church worldwide the first year of my truly walking with the Lord. The song, “Lord I lift your name on High” by Rick Founds affirmed in its refrain that Jesus,
“came from heaven to earth, to show the way
From the earth to the cross, my debt to pay
From the cross to the grace,
From the grave to the sky.
Lord, I lift your name on high.”
Through this song that I learned early on that singing the truth helps belief settle deeper into my soul's restlessness at times.
In successive years, I’ve grown in my understanding and knowledge of God through theological study. I’ve been fortunate to be able to let that education inform my loving and worship of the Lord. To grow deeper and warmer in my heart to love him better.
If our Bible intake does not increase our love of God, then what are we reading and studying for?
