In this semi-regular post, I will share what I enjoy in life that you might also appreciate (or at least get to know me and my quirks better). In addition, I will share things to stir godliness in your life.
Grace Like Rain Song
I assure you that everybody who gives even a cup of cold water to these little ones because they are my disciples, will certainly be rewarded. —Matthew 10:42
At one of the lowest points in my life, someone gave me a cup of water in the form of this song, Grace Like Rain from Todd Agnew. I hadn't heard this song before and was out of touch with the Christian music scene. When I put this song on, it washed through my spirit. I quickly opened the Scriptures and just read. Placing the song on repeat, I experienced the loving ministry of God's comfort and healing presence.
I know that the Lord used that Christian friend in a seemingly small way, giving me a cup of cold water. But I’m forever changed and forever grateful for such a gesture of kindness, obedience, and care. I trust that the Lord will certainly reward.
Never underestimate who Jesus will use in your life to draw you closer to Himself. She was a faithful sister from church, and we happened to work together.
So I urge you: Listen to the song and be blessed. Step out in the small prompting the Holy Spirit is telling you to do. Accept the smallest gestures and help from fellow Brothers and Sisters in Christ.
These may be the ways God is answering your prayers this week.
From My Bookshelf
Knowing God by J.I. Packer is likely your favorite evangelical preacher or pastor's book recommendation for taking a step towards growing deeper in knowing God.
I do recommend every Christian read it, keep it, and revisit it over time.
There are so many takeaways in this book that impacted me all those years ago, I may write a fuller article in the future. They still impact me today. For now, I simply recommend this book with the following quote that floors me every time I consider its truth. Packer writes:
“Knowing God is more than knowing about him; it is a matter of dealing with him as he opens up to you, and being dealt with by him as he takes knowledge of you”
Highly Recommend For Life and Godliness
