Could 10 Minutes With a Psalm Change How You Enter the Week?
life & godliness (7.17.26)
Sorry, no personal audio for this one.
In this semi-regular post, I will share what I enjoy in life that you might also appreciate (or at least get to know me and my quirks better). In addition, I will share things to stir godliness in your life.
My Website
In the past few months, I’ve been posting a video or going live on the internet and have been reading a Psalm on Sunday Night. I’m bringing this up for your encouragement. I plan on doing more of them, so I hope you can hop on for a few minutes Sunday nights, around 7 or 8 pm (CST). Check your email or the Substack app for the times.
I incorporate both looking at the text on screen as I read it along with just a few thoughts about the Psalm itself.
Multiple sensory channels like reading AND listening have proven beneficial in remembering and learning.
Dr. April Joy, who posts at The Christian Mind Reset’s Substack, writes:
“Because the brain responds to repetition and familiarity, it can begin to believe what it is repeatedly told, even when it is not true, making it essential that we anchor our self-talk in the truth found in God’s Word.
This is why Scripture’s invitation to renew the mind is so powerful (Romans 12:2). God designed the brain to be shaped by what it repeatedly takes in. Scripture reminds us that truth must be repeated and remembered, not just heard once, which is why God calls us to hide His Word in our hearts (Psalm 119:11) and meditate on it continually (Joshua 1:8; Psalm 1:2).
Science is simply confirming what God already knew. God’s Word was given to help us, not to weigh us down.”

Depending on how you are wired, this may help your Bible intake, meditation on God’s Word, and ultimately your relationship with God.

My Occasional Go-To: Hammock Napping
I love a hammock nap!
When the weather is cooperative and the shade under the tree is just right, I’ll set it up just to lay back and fall sleep. It‘s a place where I’ll put a favorite play list on or podcast sermon and drift off to a nice nap.
I admit I’m not a huge outdoorsmen. Bugs and heat are not my favorite weather condition. I’ll never be on the show “Alone” but I’ll watch it in the air conditioning comfort on the couch. But a solid afternoon in my hammock can coerce me into a mood for a possible fire! I’m good with that.
I share my love for a hammock to encourage you to find the one activity that will get you outdoors.
Share in the comments below of your
favorite out door activity.
